Flexible, high mobility short-channel organic thin film transistors and logic circuits based on 4H–21DNTT

Abstract The low mobility and large contact resistance in organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) are the two major limiting factors development of high-performance logic circuits. Here, solution-processed OTFTs circuits reported with a polymeric gate dielectric 6,6 bis (trans-4-butylcyclohexyl)-dinaphtho[2,1-b:2,1-f]thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (4H–21DNTT) for semiconducting layer. By optimizing controlling fabrication conditions, high saturation 8.8 cm 2 V −1 s was demonstrated as well on/off ratios (> 10 6 ) relatively short channel lengths 15 μm an average carrier 10.5 long length 50 μm). pseudo-CMOS inverter circuit exhibited sharp switching characteristics signal gain 31.5 at supply voltage 20 V. In addition to circuit, NAND were further investigated, which also remarkable characteristics, gain, operating frequency 5 kHz, propagation delay 22.1 μs. uniform reproducible performance 4H–21DNTT show potential large-area, low-cost real-world applications on industry-compatible bottom-contact substrates.
